Editorial and Clinical Review Policy
Mental health information can influence how people understand their experiences and whether they seek care. Manhattan Mental Health Counseling (MMHC) publishes clear, carefully sourced information to help readers make informed decisions about their care.
Who Writes and Who Reviews
Articles identify their author or credit MMHC when prepared collaboratively. Writing and clinical review are credited separately, reflecting each person's contribution.
Before publication, Natalie Buchwald, LMHC-D, Founder and Founding Clinical Chair of MMHC, reviews and approves content about symptoms, conditions or treatment. She checks clinical accuracy, supporting evidence and whether the information could mislead readers. Each clinically reviewed page names Natalie as its reviewer, lists her credentials and New York license number, links to her professional profile and shows the date of the completed clinical review and the next scheduled review.
How We Check Facts
We read the sources we cite and verify that they support our claims. We prioritize current professional guidance, systematic reviews and relevant peer-reviewed research. Clinical claims and statistics link to supporting sources within the text or in a reference list.
We explain meaningful limits in the evidence and distinguish research findings from clinical interpretation. We do not present associations as proof of cause or promise individual treatment outcomes.
When citing our client surveys or public ratings, we identify the source and the number of respondents or reviews behind each figure, and the year our own surveys were conducted. We do not present satisfaction ratings as evidence of treatment effectiveness.
Facts about MMHC, including insurance participation, fees and availability, are checked against current approved practice records.
How We Use AI Tools
We may use artificial intelligence tools to help organize, draft or edit content. Our team verifies sources and factual claims, and clinical content requires Natalie's approval before publication. MMHC remains responsible for what we publish.
Our Commercial Interest
MMHC provides psychotherapy services, and our content helps readers decide whether to work with us. Our clinical reviewer is also the practice's founder. Clinical claims must be supported by evidence, including on pages about our services. We do not accept paid placements or sponsorships on this website.
How Often We Review
We review clinical pages at least every six months and sooner when relevant evidence, professional guidance or practice information changes. Substantive clinical changes require Natalie's approval.
We distinguish the date of a content update from the date of a clinical review. We change a clinical review date only after Natalie completes a clinical review. Routine edits do not reset it.
Corrections
To report a possible error, use our contact page and include the page link and the information you believe needs correction. Please do not include private health information. The contact form is not for urgent support.
We acknowledge correction reports within seven business days and correct confirmed errors promptly. Corrections involving clinical content require Natalie's review and may take longer. Significant corrections include a dated note explaining what changed. Minor fixes, such as typos or formatting, are made without a note.
This Information Is Not a Substitute for Care
Our content provides general education. It does not provide a diagnosis or replace individual assessment, treatment or advice from a qualified clinician. Do not delay seeking care because of something you read here.
If you are in immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. For additional crisis support, visit our emergency resources page.
