Cigna Therapists in NY
Does Cigna cover mental health?
All Cigna members, individuals and dependent family plan members, are eligible for psychotherapy services under their Cigna insurance plan. With most Cigna plan, there is a co-pay and/or deductible to pay. We can check your benefits for you. Please call our office at 212-960-8626 or fill out the contact form below.
In most cases, Cigna plans have no limit on the number of therapy sessions you can have, which allows you to see an Cigna therapist (one in-network with Cigna) on a weekly basis as long as your Cigna coverage is active and there is a medically necessary reason for your sessions.
Questions to ask to Ascertain My Cigna coverage for therapy?
To know more about the specifics of your plan, call the number on the back of your Cigna insurance card. Cigna members can call this number for information on Cigna Behavioral Health 1-800-433-5768.
The following questions are good ones to ask Cigna behavioral health to know about your particular benefits:
- Cigna Mental Health Copay: What is my copay for mental health outpatient services, specifically in connection with codes 90834 and 90837? (those CPT codes are used by Cigna therapists).
- Is there a session cap per year? (session cap are unlikely with Cigna, but better to know for sure.)
Upon scheduling your first consultation, we will also verify your Cigna coverage and will tell you what your copay and deductible would be, if applicable.
Is Online Therapy Covered by Cigna Insurance?
Yes. Cigna covers online therapy which is often referred to as telehealth therapy. Therapists, like ours, who accept Cigna are known as Cigna in-network therapists.
How much does therapy cost with Cigna?
Coverage for therapy varies widely from one Cigna plan to another. Most often there is some co-pay to be paid. You might also have a deductible to pay upfront before the sessions are partly or fully covered.
With a Cigna therapist, your therapy sessions will likely cost between $0 - $35 per session, after you meet your deductible. The $0 - $35 amount is the co-pay (the fixed amount that you owe at each therapy visit). The deductible is the total amount you need to spend in medical costs in a year before your insurance begins to cover the cost of mental health services. You might have a plan that waives the deductible for psychotherapy. If so, no need to worry about your deductible and simply pay your Cigna copay.
